Why we built Storyvue
Because updating your CV every 2-3 years and trying to remember what you actually did is a terrible way to manage a career.
The problem we're solving
Most of us only update our CV when we need a job. By then, it's been 2-3 years since the last update, and we're struggling to recall the specifics: What were those key metrics? Which project had the biggest impact? How did I actually handle that challenging situation?
For people who are naturally self-critical, the challenge is even harder. Writing about achievements doesn't come naturally when you're focused on what could have been better. And then there's the modern reality: CVs need to be tailored for each application and optimized for applicant tracking systems, or they don't even get seen by a human.
The job application process itself can be demoralizing. You spend hours crafting applications, only to receive automated rejections or worse, silence. It's exhausting, especially when you're trying to figure out your transferable skills or articulate why you're qualified for something you haven't done word-for-word.
StoryVue was born from this frustration. We believe there's a better way.
What we believe
Careers are long, CVs are snapshots
Your CV should be a curated snapshot of your career, not the full story. But to create a good snapshot, you need the full story captured somewhere.
Reflection in the moment is powerful
People are bad at remembering specifics months later, but good at reflecting in the moment. Capture it while it's fresh, use it when you need it.
Honest reflection requires privacy
Real career reflection isn't just about wins—it's about challenges, frustrations, and growth. That honesty only happens in a private space you control.
You're more than your job title
Transferable skills, hidden strengths, and growth patterns matter just as much as the bullet points on your CV. We help you see the bigger picture.
What StoryVue is (and isn't)
Storyvue is:
- A private career reflection and story-building tool
- A system for turning ongoing experiences into a coherent narrative
- A way to capture the good, the bad, and the ugly—when it's for your eyes only
- A tool that gives you CV-ready content when you need it, not scrambled together under pressure
Storyvue isn't:
- A social network or public profile
- A job board or recruitment platform (though that might come later)
- A replacement for meaningful career coaching relationships
Our values
Privacy-first, always
Your reflections are yours. We don't sell your data, we don't train AI on your personal stories, and we don't make your private thoughts public.
Respect for your time and mental load
We keep check-ins short (5-10 minutes) and prompts focused. No overwhelming dashboards or endless features you'll never use.
Evidence-based insights, not generic advice
Our insights come from your actual experiences and patterns, not one-size-fits-all career platitudes.
